The Night Clubbers

Director / producer

(Short Film) 2022

Written by Aaron Latta-Morissette

Directed by Matthew James Thomas

With 7 wins and over 30 official selections at film festivals including 2 nominations for ‘best director’ (Austin & Houston comedy film festivals), ‘best director’ award from Indi Eye Film Festival. ‘Best Short film’ at Ocean City Film Fest and more. From the brilliant mind of Aaron Latta-Morisette - The Night Clubbers - was the “covid” film project that took on a life of its own. Inspired by the Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller comedy, Dodgeball, The Night Clubber’s, directed by Matthew James Thomas, calls forth a similarly ridiculous sport for its plot: miniature golf. The plot is as follows: After getting laughed out of the P.G.A for choking on the green, Paul Griffin Anderson, a golf prodigy, is forced to compete in his hometown mini-golf competitions for money. But when he shows up expecting an easy victory, he soon discovers the high school friends he shamelessly left behind are now the local all-stars and have mastered the perfect putt.

Chicken

Producer

(Short Film) 2021-22

Written and Directed by: Rana Roy

Produced by: Matthew James Thomas, Ani Shroeter, Brian McGreevy

Matthew has been honored to support this truly original work, which brings attention to the clouded perspectives of personality disorder, and how denial, shame and fear that can so dramatically separate us from one another. Starring Dina Shihabi, known for her roles in Archive 81, Jack Ryan and upcoming Netflix series “Painkiller", and recent Juliard Graduate, Keyshav Moodlier, Rana Roy's award winning short film 'Chicken' is inspired by the true story of her parents marriage. Rana embraces the absurd with her unique filmic vision as we find ourselves in a Las Vegas motel with two misfits, who flew the coop from Saudi Arabia and eloped behind their families backs.

Meet Cute

Producer / Actor

(Short Film) 2021

Written and Directed by: Brian McGreevy

Produced by: Brian McGreevy, Matthew James Thomas, Patrick Lyons

Starring: Matthew James Thomas and May Calamawy

In the early stages of the pandemic (now there’s an opener to stop people reading on) Brian (Mcgreevy) and I would often discuss delinquent film ideas to amuse ourselves. On a particularly depressing mid-week afternoon, we found ourselves discussing what we thought Patrick Bateman would be getting up to during the pandemic. Brian (being Brian) returned to the subject a few weeks later by (seemingly) pulling a script from thin air - “Meet Cute” A short film I was convinced was lifted from a Nancy Meyers pilot, until I read to the end. After some attempt to avoid playing the role myself I gave in and we set a shoot day. On the day of the shoot we lost our other actor, who was set to be reading over zoom for the entirety. But as luck has it, May Calamawy, a friend ours was available to jump in
